Having read, and liked, several books of A.E. Radley's quite well, this one is clearly not my favorite. Though having its fun moments, I didn't perceive of it as actually comic. It took me a while to get into the flow of reading with the alternating and interwoven plots of several editorial staff characters. After a while, it became entertaining in the way of a soap opera with several possible happy endings being hinted at but left open. Uncommon with this author, there were quite a few forgotten two or three letter words or word endings (such as seem instead of seemed), a couple of spelling errors (e.g. let instead of led, or heart instead of heard), her books usually being more thoroughly edited.

I want to praise Radley for going away from that boring "A meets B" standard - although her novels tend to be fun despite this - but this one was just too much "ensemble cast" for its short length to work for me. It was more about that lesbian magazine overall then about any single character; that sort of thing can be quite nice but here it just jumped around too much.
